TFI Aachen 2026 Board Meeting

How can we successfully transform our industry toward greater sustainability, circularity, and digitalization?

We have been addressing this and many other questions over the past day and a half during the board meeting of TFI Aachen / TFI – Institute for Floor and Spatial Systems at RWTH Aachen e. V., at OBJECT CARPET GmbH in Denkendorf.

We were particularly pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Marzia Traverso as a new member of the Executive Board for the first time. As head of the Institute for Sustainability in Construction (INaB) at RWTH Aachen University, she is a recognized expert in sustainability assessment, life cycle assessment, and the circular economy. With her scientific and practical expertise, she will provide important impetus for the strategic development of the TFI and our industry.

In addition to a recent report from the institute’s leadership, key future-oriented topics were on the agenda. These included sustainability assessments, regulatory developments, and the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence for manufacturing companies in the building products industry.

The discussions were marked by a high level of commitment, diverse perspectives, and a shared goal: to develop solutions that will strengthen our industry in the long term and make it future-proof

It was precisely this open exchange, the willingness to engage in dialogue, and the wealth of new ideas that once again demonstrated just how valuable collaboration within the TFI network is.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our board members Jörg Harbecke, Tobias Arnold, Marc Kaminski, Eric Seliger, Marzia Traverso and Martin Auerbach as well as Object Carpet for their hospitality and the excellent conditions provided for our board meeting.

We look forward to working together to further develop the ideas discussed and translate them into concrete actions for our members and the industry.
