1. CPR Acquis: What’s Happening with Floor Coverings?

The implementation of the new European Construction Products Regulation (CPR 2024/3110) for the various product groups is moving forward. Flooring products are grouped under Subgroup 19 (FLO). This subgroup defines and establishes the requirements for products, documentation, and sustainability information. The preparatory work for developing the harmonized standard is divided into various milestones. The implementation timeline is currently planned as follows:

After development and publication of the harmonized standard, it is reviewed by the European Commission and subsequently cited in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). This marks the start of the co-existing period, which allows manufacturers to transit to the new requirements. According to current estimates, this co-existing period will end only April 2032.

2. DPP – Digital Product Passport – EN 18135:2026 Published

An important part of the CPR Acquis process is the Digital Product Passport (DPP). The requirements regarding content and an example format are specified in DIN EN 18135, which was published in edition 2026-05. This is intended to ensure greater transparency in the future regarding products, ingredients, environmental information, recycling and reuse options.
